That was the week that was
Life is incredibly busy at the moment, it seems that we blink and another week goes by.
We had a lovely long weekend over Easter, as we were all off school and work from the friday to the Wednesday. The boys have quite a busy social life now, so they’re off doing their own thing more often than not.
On Friday, both the boys had mates sleep over and husband and I escaped from the mad house for a few hours and went to see The Magic Circus of Samoa. it was absolutely breathtaking, we’ll definitely go agin next time they’re here.
On Saturday, husband took me to the Speedway to see the demolition derby and the boys stayed at home.  It was a pretty cold and windy evening, so we were pleased that we took a throw with us and we snuggled up under it in the stands, with just our noses and eyes showing!Â
The weather took a dramatic turn on Sunday, it was gorgeous once again, which is very unseasonal. This has been the longest summer on record for NZ. I’m dreading the winter coming, it’s going to be such a shock. The boys were out with the mates on Sunday, so Chris and I went out to Ashhurst Domain for lunch. What a stunning place, I’d never been there before. We’ll definitely be going again though. It would make a great wedding venue.
After lunch, we drove over to Woodville and on the way, decided to stop at the Cafe Beyond the Bridge for dessert, they do a fantastic caramel sundae.
I can’t remember what we did during the day on Monday, but in the evening, we took the kids to see Vantage Point, what a strange film, they keep repeating the same 15 minutes over and over, from different people’s point of view.  I think this is one for dvd!
On Tuesday, the Lewis was out at the library all day, planning Friday Flight. Lewis is a member of the social committee there.  I took Sam into town to have a long overdue haircut at Just Cuts and we enjoyed a Wendy’s shake, crunchie caramel – yummy!
Just after we got home, Chris got home from work, so we went out to Pioneer Nursery to try and find some trees for the front garden. I love our house, but it is very exposed to the road, a little bt of tree coverage will add rivacy and should reduce some of the road noise.
I was glad to get back to work for a rest! Phew it was busy.
We’re going sofa hunting on the weekend, I think we’ve narrowed it down to a choice of two, one at Farmers:
And one at Harvey Norman:
Both would look lovely in our lounge, will post up pics once we’ve decided and had the new carpet fitted.
The boys had a great time in ATC on Wednesday, they really enjoy going. They’ve been going for 6 weeks now and were given their uniform last night. They couldn’t wait to try it on when they got home and show Chris. They’re pretty excited that they have to saulte him and call him “Sir” if they’re in uniform! Might make them call him that anyway! They now have to learn how to iron their uniform – Chris learned all that at IOTC (Initial Officer Training Course) so he’s going to show them how to iron – maybe he can give me a few tips too.
It was Parent/teacher interviews tonight, and I had both the boys’ tonight. 10 interviews in 2 hours, my head was swimming! The crux of Sam’s was that he’s very chatty, but he’s settled into high school well and they expect good things from him. He’s in stream 6 of 18, so he’s doing pretty well. There will be changes in term 2, they don’t expect Sam to move.
Lewis’ interviews were pretty unexpected, I thought I’d hear that he was doing ok, struggling, but for the most part, being pretty average. Nope, I heard that he was a dfferent boy from last year and that he’s a pleasure to teach, which was absolutely great as he really didn’t do very well last year. I had a lovely warm glow, I’m very proud of my boy.
They don’t get fast food very often and as it was gone 6.30 when we finished the interviews, we went home to meet Chris (who was late home from work as there was a gas leak next to the gym – where his car was parked – and it was quarantined, so he missed the P/T interviews), and picked up Chris, then we went to Burger King and stuffed ourselves!
Friday tomorrow, it’s been a lovely short week and now it’s almost the weekend again! Phew!
